So few people realize how much culture and heritage is lost with each passing generation and each dying language. This series of videos is an important cultural contribution. Thank you.

Just came across your videos. I remember eating all these delicious foods when I was a child, (and I still enjoy most of them today) but I never knew it to be poorman meals, shoot, it was just good ole home cooked food to me, lol. Be careful with that knife. LOVE your videos and the recipes. Thank you so much.

Clara I love you Hon and admire you 100%. You remind me of my beautiful grandmother. She taught me a few beans & rice tricks too.

Wanna hear one? Aiight, here’s one…

Boil the water just once and place in a thermos, add beans or rice, close lid and leave it for a few hours. When you open it it will be cooked to perfection with no burning or mess to worry about.

Thanks Dear Clara- I too made these recipes with my Sicilian Grandmother, mother, aunts. My favorite lunch . Still is-along with egg, onion, and potato sandwiches. We had our garden and we canned in the cellar and had chickens in the yard. We never had a cutting board either. The pastries we made were scrumptious-cucidadis, crispellis, etc . It was still time to be frugal after WW2 when I was born. Thank you for the recipes and the memories. You look wonderful, by the way..keep it up girl.

Put a small bit of sugar in with the peppers like a couple teaspoons! It really makes them delicious! Same with onions.
