My grandparents used to tell me stories from the Depression Era too. It was a bad time for many Americans. Looks like we’re headed back there again. Thanks for posting these. It brings back a lot of memories.

    P.S.

We need many more stories and information from the older generations. Truly, they are wise and we would be wise to listen. Thank you, Clara, for your time, and I hope to see more from you.

Clara is a wonderful woman and thank God for people like her who can remind us of how bleak times were for the common man back in those days. Her stories are very appropriate today given what’s become of this country and what’s left of our economy after decades of binging and charging it to our unborn grandchildren’s credit cards. God bless you, Clara.

We are so lucky to have wonderful people like Clara as a resource. We need their knowledge and skills. My parents lived through the Depression and I learned a lot about saving and not wasting food. Maybe we’ll all need to learn how to cook at home again?

  • 23. scutterbear  |  July 28th, 2003 at 2:13 pm

    5 Stars for Clara!

  • 24. thewheatguy  |  July 31st, 2003 at 10:00 pm

So many great lessons to learn from you! Please share more! I learned so much from my grandparents who were a young married couple in the Depression. Poppie (97) still cuts his napkins into quarters to use. Grammy could make the best food out of what you would think was ‘nothing’! God BLESS YOU Clara for sharing!
